Something from my heart: A mom I met at a Children’s home!

A mom I met at a Children’s home! February 3, 2015 at 8:21pm During the holidays, I was invited to one of the Children’s home parties. I was as usual quite involved with my kids. It is funny that when I am with them I am totally oblivious to my surroundings. I get very involved   listening to their funny stories, coloring with them and talking to them. They practice their jokes on me, teach me clapping games which I never seem to remember and that makes them giggle and laugh. Of course, I am the one who gets the most pleasure out of it. As the kids left the table to see Santa who was also invited to the party, I noticed one women sitting in a corner table, away from everyone else with her teenage son. I had seen this boy recently at the home. I had introduced myself to him and I remember him to be a very soft spoken young man. Something from my heart: A little girl waits for her Nana

A little girl waits for her Nana October 11, 2014 at 10:33pm One time as usual I went to children’s home and like always the minute I get out of my car I hear a big bang from the second floor. It was one of the girls who waits for me and loves to hang out with me while I cook. She is only 13 and claims she is helping me but she loves to talk to me as she is very much attached to me. She ran down the stairs, started to help me bring things inside from my car and then loudly said, “Guess what? I am going on a visit. My Nana (grandmother) is coming to get me. She is coming in an hour but I am starved. Got anything to eat right now?” All this in one breath and one sentence. I smiled and said, “Well I have some granola bars for you but give me some time and I will make something for you”. She said, “Oh I am not supposed to eat as she is taki

A full day spent with my princess outside Children’s Home June 12, 2015 at 9:53am This took place back in April. My planning this trip was on an impulse. I am very close to this particular girl as I have known her as long as I have been going to Children’s Homes. My very first experience was at a home where I was just starting to cook, I was by myself and it was my very first time. I had not met any kids or knew the staff. One person let me in to this rather huge, empty and locked facility. I was just thinking to myself, I don’t hear any kids I wonder where everyone is. Just then I hear a loud bang at the door. A screaming mad woman walked into the office not too far from the kitchen with a little girl by her arm. I peeked out of the kitchen to see what the noise was about. She charged into the office with this girl and said, “Keep her, I don’t want her”. This girl was about 11-12 years old and said nothing. She had this confused and angry look on her face. I quickly came back i
